About Frederick Frederick Curry is a dance artist and educator who has worked in a variety of theatrical and educational settings in the United States and in Europe. Frederick’s artistic work juxtaposes the physically and emotionally fractured nature of our lives with a persistent yearning for a profound and enduring happiness. He crafts vicarious theatrical experiences highlighting the foibles of human existence. His work has been presented at The Frederick Loewe Theatre, Merkin Concert Hall, The Bridge, La Mama, etc., and Dance Space in New York, and at the Bonnie Bird Theatre in London. Frederick has danced professionally in New York with the Rod Rodgers Dance Company, Les Guirivoires Dance Company, Elinor Coleman Dance Company, Phyllis Rose Dance Company, American Heritage Dance Company, Deborah Carr’s Theatre Dance Ensemble, and with choreographers Cathy Ward and Renata Celichowska. His New York theatrical credits include leading roles in The Vengeance of Mami Wata by Rose-Marie Guiraud, and Owl in Love by composer Jon Deak. Frederick currently teaches in the Dance Education Program at New York University. He has taught master classes at the Swiss Youth Dance Festival (Zurich), Laban Youth Dance Platform (London), Wagner College (New York), and Athens Ballet Theatre (Georgia). He has been on the faculty at Trollwood Performing Arts School (North Dakota), Regional Center for the Arts (Connecticut), the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s Creating Original Opera In-School Residency Program (New York), and Poly Prep Country Day School (New York). Frederick holds a M.A. in Dance Education from New York University, a B.A. in Communications from the University of Alabama, and a Professional Diploma in Community Dance Studies from Laban Centre London.
